I noticed these 5 power IC's that where not fastened to the heat sink like the others beside them were. Is this normal for these to not be connected to the heat sink? There are no holes in the heat sink for these 5 devices.
Two of the IC's/transistors in question were marked 1B22BR & 1B17N.Attachment 6426
need to use a pointer or something to point them out , never mind i enlarged the pic sorta funny they are not fasten with screw and thermal glue stuff. but could be like that for a reason
Are you trying to illustrate the black transistors with no holes or Phillips screws securing them to the heatsink like the others in the picture?

Just pulled my cover my 250ex is the same there no screws and they are sorta tipped away from the heat sink , must be for a reason.. i have had my 250ex for over 2 years now and most my welding is 200 or higher on amps and have not had any problems with it , what funny my plate has screw holes in it but there not screwed down ,
yours look tip slightly away like my welder is. so they must not want them touching the heat sink
hey what kind of camera are you using nice clear picture ,mine takes not very good close up pictures but it a cheap Kodak lol
I would see how hot they're actually getting while you're welding; maybe the electrical engineers didn't believe those would need to be cooled like the others due the circuit design. If they're running cooler and you attach them to the heatsink you could make things worse if the one attached are working at a hotter temperature.

Well I just wanted to make sure before I really run up the current for a sustained period. I thought they might be drivers for those relays but wanted to make sure. Thanks for the replies.
