Doesn't look to have any clearance issues, but I'd make sure you can put a bigger bottle on it as well (like a 155)
Same here... make room for a 300cf.
Agree, more tank space and I don't see why the 10 inch wheel has to be set at the end,,,could be positioned in more to avoid wasted space and reduce overall length,,,the top shelf length seems short,,,,cause once you have the cables and hose connected you may want to set the unit further back from the front...hoses and cables occupy space at the front of the machine...as a concept drawing it seems fine..
The locking castors are a PIA as you will soon find out,,,had some one one of my builds,,,they never stay locked or unlocked at the right time or one is locked and the other is free wheeling,,,,
yes no locking casters they are a pain and bigger tank tigs welders like large tanks . I am going to build a new cart for my new mig welder but the cart will hold 2 tanks 1 tank of mig gas and a 1 argon tank for the aluminum spool gun i am getting later . as for tanks i like the 80 cf since not to tall when welding un a car on a car lift . i have tall tanks but seem i always hit something when rolling welder under car when welding. plus nice having 2 or 3 80 instead in case you run out on a weekend and cant get yours refilled , just like my torches i have 2 acetylene tanks and 3 oxygen tanks to play it safe since i only get my tanks delivered on Thursdays. nothing worse than have a bunch of welding jobs and run out of gas and have to wait for refills . we have a local place to fill tanks but they charge like double over my out of town supplier
Agree with the larger bottle suggestions maybe 125 cf+ and moving the back wheels in for space. The middle shelf could be taller to accommodate a cooler if you ever wanted one in the future. The WC300 dimensions were given to me (I forget by who) as L20"xW10.5"xH14.5". Cable holders would also be nice. I don’t fully understand the pivot because at 30” you should be able to see the display just fine. I thought angling your machine was good on low carts to see the display, so if I am missing something let me know. Good luck with the cart and post pics of the build.
When I built my cart http://www.everlastgenerators.com/fo...y-Welding-Cart I mounted the 10" tires forward so they would be beneath the weight of my 125cuft tank. Because that raised the cart up another 1/2" due to the axle being welded beneath the cart frame, I had to weld some u-channel standoffs to mount my caster plates on. Casters were previously 5" height. Worked out fine. I made more space between middle and top shelf so it would fit two pieces of equipment. Still have lower shelf space for cables, etc.
I agree that the casters do not have to be locking. Once you have a loaded cart with welder and tank, the cart won't be moving on its own.

As other folks are saying, I'm probably going to get a larger tank at some point. I was trying to future-proof it as much as possible. The top shelf is 19" wide - same width as the shelf drawer.
I was just trying to keep the weight forward of the rear wheels. Also, the 10" tires were so I can wheel it out in the back yard if I had something to work on that I couldn't get into my small garage.
The locking casters were relatively cheap (tractor supply) and will be bolted not welded to the frame.
The upper shelf will tilt up to offer more versatility to operate the knobs should I be at the bench or next to a vehicle on a roller stool.
Please keep the comments and ideas coming - I want it as tricked-out as possible and I've got the time. Son wants a drink holder on it now! :D
shifting the wheels in 6 inches will not hurt the balance it will improve it,,,,if you plan on moving it around the yard ,,,best to install some handles to make sort of a wheel barrow,,,cause them little castors only roll well on cement,,,they hang up on the slightest thing,,,,my genset has a similar wheel setup to your design,,,moves okay on cement,,but I have handles to make it ride on the big wheels only,,when I'm moving on grass or dirt..
I think the 125cf cart I have is right at 7" diameter. From what I researched awhile back most tanks are 7" up thru 125cf, then they get wider. Here's a chart I just found: http://wagnerweldingsupply.com/pdfs/cylsize.pdf

You did a great job with your drawing diagram but is spending all this time & labor worth building your own cart when Harbor Freight has a real nice one on sale for $49 dollars and if you have a 20% off coupon it would be even cheaper. http://www.harborfreight.com/welding-cart-90305.html
that would be like my i mig 205 it would not fit on a regular welding cart
I haven't welded anything in about 15 years. What fun would it be to put together a cart from Harbor Freight? Like I said, I've got some spare time coming up this spring.

What cad program did you use to draw up the cart? Always looking for free and easier.
As Rod mention the IMIG-205 will not fit, but almost all other non roll-around Everlast units will. The IMIG-205P will fit fine.
Inthefrey's cart:
I would move the wheels forward (middle of the tank deck) and extend the tank deck a little like others mentioned. Larger tank (if TIG you will see soon) and better balance.

I wouldn't use wood, that stuff will catch on fire not that I would be that close with the torch.. :D Fire proof would not probably heavier than angle or tubing. Though probably cheaper.
I have to admit it works. Also, at my age squatting to set the dials it out too. Needs a shelf.
