I've got a guy that wants me to weld a 1" solid square stock to 1" solid square stock..
What would you use?
MIG
TIG
Stick... and I'm guessing Stick would be good for this? 7014/18 rod?

Nevermind... I ended up Tig'ing it.
Easier than I was thinking
as long as both pieces are beveled on there ends mig or stick . but if a lot of stress i would stick weld it
It was a release bar for, he called it, a dirt hauler. There was no stress on it he said but it kept breaking when he would pull it.
A friend of his kept welding it and it looked like how I USED to weld!! All globbed up and nasty looking. I welded it all the way through, added a loop for the spring and then painted it. Guy was Impressed and started asking what all do I weld. ANYTHING THAT PAYS!!!!! :)
I charged him $25 and he was more than happy to pay it.
yey give me the money i will weld it lol get a kick out of my freind always asking if i can weld something for them i tell them sure wheres the money gas and consumables are not free
I've done a bunch of stuff for friends... friends of friends... people who know my friends... lol
I wanted the practice but now since I had my first "Official" paying customer, the freebies stop!! :)
The Freebies Have their place even after customers pay. Word of mouth can make or break ya.
yey when you stop doing stuff free you notice your friends don't come around as often lol also same when you don't have beer in the fridge
lol that funny just like when i don't drink much any more a lot of old friends never come by
