Hello From Maryland

Hey guys, was looking for some good machines that wouldnt break the bank and was reffered by another at goddard that Everlast would be a good fit.

I started truly welding about a year ago when I cut my teeth on an older blue 300dx. I only had a day to get acquainted with Tigging and on aluminum no less. Being taught by NASA welders was a fun experience; I certainly wasn't expecting it. But lets face it, the second I saw what Tigging can do I was hell bent on learning. The first real job was to Tig together an electronics box for a bot we had spent the entire summer on. The last thing I heard before the torch lit up was "you'll be fine. Just don't blow any holes in it. We both know how much we've spent on this robot. No pressure :p". If there's anything that teaches quick it's trial by fire. Fast forward to now and I was sent home one day with about 2grand of material. Ive been wanting to build some stuff and fix a camaro restoration so I figure what better time to keep the momentum up and pick up a Tig for home.

Looking forward to continuing to learn in my spare time and hopefully combine welding with my degree. Gotta have a box for the electronics right? :)

Welcome aboard. Sorry for the delay, but got you on here. You will like our AC/DC tigs, they are all great. And we have a number of CS and EE types on there that weld as well. Post any questions you have. No one here is shy.

Welcome, Commodore88! I'm just around the Beltway from you (Reston). Did your robot make it onto any space flights?!

Thanks for the welcome guys and good to hear about the TIGs. Was looking at the microtig or the new 210 when it makes it out of QC/revisions. You gents wouldn't happen to know what pedals are compatible with the 22k in the micro or if oleg was planning adding amp limiting to the micro's pedal control?(website and a few posts mention it. Not a deal breaker though, I never really used the feature)

The robot we made didn't go up, but where it's right now isn't far off. Chugs around Greenland hauling a ground penetrating radar. This was previously done by a guy on a snowmobile (who drew the short straw). Being taught by the head guy at Goddard was awesome. Mark Mann if anyone was curious or knew him. Pretty nice guy too. The head engineer I worked with(and still do), Mike Comberiate, used to joke with us about all the spacejunk he was clogging orbit with haha. Specifically the GOES, N POES, and COOL SPACE programs. The stuff that gets us our weather reports and interpole communications.
