Ive played around with different tungstens with my 250EX, 2% thorated, 1.5% Lanthinated, and 2% Lanthinated. Im seeing issues with the thorated hard starting arc on aluminum is this common with a inverter machine ? With the 1.5 lanthinated I do not have problems unless I stop welding for a few minutes then the arc is somewhat hard starting, the 2% lanthinated is much much better than the other two and holds its tip really well. What are you guys using ?

I use Pure Tungsten on Aluminum...just seems to be smoother for me.
I've tried the 2% Lanthinate but it contaminates the weld on me!?!?

DONT use PURE on an Inverter. It isn't smoother. Its more erratic.
I have only tried the 2% Lanthinate and the pure. The pure welds like butter and is a pleasure.Quote:
