I've been looking around and I've seen different design and size tips for the torch.
Some were listed as "drag tips" and were flat, while others were shaped the same as the ones that came with my PowerPlasma 50.
Also, any advice on when to use the standoff and when not to?
I know you probably are aware of it, but I am making the comment for the general benefit of anyone reading this.
There are different torches that appear the same, so be careful not to confuse the tips...as there are different tips for what appear to be the same torch externally.
Now with that said, there are different tips available apart from what we offer for the torch.
For dragging, keep amps UNDER 30. The stock con will drag. I've used the long ones with the 4 way hatch marks cut into it. Did not like them, as they actually were worse than the originals...But it could be the material that I was using, being quite dirty.
So, is it just a manufacturer thing or are some tips designed for other specific purposes?
The way I see it is the cut marks in the tip are for blow back when starting. If you put a tip in contact with the metal a flat tip has no place for the plasma to go before it blow through the metal. by by tip
