Project 12, from scootarida1, Terminal Post Puller

Here is a post puller I will be fabricating over the next few weeks in order to see the force required to pull a terminal off of a battery post using various torques for the nut and bolt. This is a CAD'd version and will update as I build it. Basically it will be attached to a pull tester and it will measure lbs till fracture or release:

Do you have to go back to school after your internship? Would you go work for them looks like they have nice expensive equipment. I would stay ha. My Dad is thinking about building a CNC machine but not sure where he and a friend are on it. They are building to to maybe keep price down. his friend as a big one now but wants a new one.

Yeah I have to go back to school on the 22th but they have a pull tester and I'm building the adapter as seen in the pictures. I made some progress on it but I have to wait for the materials to come before I can weld it up. But here is the nut portion on the top of the picture that I started, its basically two 1/2-13 nuts welded together. I will be drilling a hole and putting it half way down and then weld around the top and bottom to make sure its secure. I had to grind it down as seen in the picture in order to make sure it will fit in the hole without to much clearance around the flats.

And I would love to try and build a cnc machine even if it could only cut soft materials but I wouldn't even know where to start.

Perhaps a silly question, but your welded pair of 1/2" hex nuts has me wondering, how well does a bolt or threaded rod go through, or did you weld them while on a bolt or rod? As I was looking at it, my first thought was to thread a piece of steel or utilize a thread coupler to make sure the threads lined up perfect.

Hi A coupling nut is the better way to have a longer threaded part.
Here are some trans tools I made years ago one is a pump puller and the other is for compressing clutches. Worked great on th350 and 700r4 trans.
You can buy them at Home Depot or hardware stores many sizes.

I have been planning to make a few tools myself. One is a overhead valve sprint compressor that could be used without taking the head off the motor. I have half the stuff I need to build my own 5 axis CNC mill.
