Hey PPL... i just saw a video

@2:20 seconds into video it appears :O . really? Am i missing something? How? Is this a mod you can do to any truck without large external components/units?? Anybody...?

For some reason I didn't have audio on that one, but it sure looks like a NEMA 6-50p. Our truck has a 110v AC outlet... is 220v the next logical jump?
And an air compressor connection on the other side!? I"m surprised they haven't rigged it to the tires to keep them inflated. Those fold-in fold-out steps look a little ... something... I prefer "simple and straightforward" to "fussy and complicated" any day.
I looked at the GMC website, and didn't see similar body styles- I looked for those massive towing blocks on the front bumper, for instance. I also googled "gmc 220v outlet" and some variations, and got no hits. There was a live chat link on the gmc site, so I asked about it- turns out that's a concept vehicle for an auto show, not a production model.
I guess a feature like this is too much to ask out of a pick up truck...

An outlet for compressed air on the other hand seems doable..... yet I don't know how reliable the duty cycle would be due to the lack of space. But if does give me something to look forward to out of a new truck.
I don't know why not. There is a 110 outlet in my jeep from the factory. All it would take is a 220V inverter installed.Quote:

I am with DaveO, with less is more. Or keep it simple. When I see those drop down step rails all I see is one expensive fix when they fail. No thanks. I also couldn't get audio. Unless I am mistaken that plug on the passenger's side is a 110V. For 220v the blades would have to be horizontal, that or a 220v lock plug. Just my two cents.
Sorry Canada, but no, 220V would not have to be horizontal. The NEMA 6-50P would be vertical and parallel as in the picture.
