TIG Filler
Has anyone used the filler rod from weldingsupply.com? With their shipping it is a lot cheaper than my LWS. When I set up my account with the LWS the owner was on vacation and a new person was there. I don't think he is giving me as good of a deal as the owner was. I will have to talk to him when he gets back from vacation. Can't see paying 50% more and have to drive 20 miles one way to get it when I can have UPS drop it at the door cheaper, and not pay the $8.00 HAZMAT charge.

I do, and the best past is there shop is 10 minutes away from my work. They do have some darn good prices on filler rod and other stuff

I have purchased from Ram Welding Supply and had good luck, not sure how the price compare. I have had good luck with Forney from a local hardware store as well.
-
I haven't bought filler from them, but I buy about everything else. takes forever, the website sucks, but I plan in advance and save 5-30% over everyone else.

I placed an order, shipped the next day, will be here on Monday. Can't complain about that.

I got my tungsten, filler, gloves, helmet from them and it got here the next day(1 state away). I have had no problems with it and the prices were awesome.

Well, this thread just cost me $55 and Ogorir is right, their website is a mess, but I have see worse.
There electrode sales price is great, forgot to look at filler darn it, whole reason I went there. After years of hearing about it, I did ordered some chem sharp to try. Heard good and bad, but the grinding is a pain and it is supposed to be safer on the thoriated, claims to sharp in 1 minute at the table. We will see.
Thanks for the link.

another tip for weldingsupply.com... their sister site, weldwarehouse.com uses mostly the same part numbers at wholesale cost. that website is even worse to find things with, though, and it doesn't stock everything. weldwarehouse has the best prices on vise grips I've seen, period. if someone has found a better price, I'm all ears. you can never have too many vise grips.

ogorir,
Great, just checked the weldwarehouse. Great prices in TIG Cups. Not so great on filler. The shipping was the same (UPS Ground). You didn't save me a bunch of money on my car insurance. However, you saved me on the purchase of TIG cups.

i ordered some tungsten and solar flux a couple weeks ago. the site is tough to navigate, but pricing was good and shipping was good as well.

re: weldingsupply.com Just don't ask them any questions about their products. They will direct you to the mfg. They either don't know anything about what they're selling or just have a policy of refusing to answer questions. I bought my welding shirt, welding cable, and electrode/ground clamps from them. Great prices.

For any on-line ordering, I get the part number from the manufacturer and then use that part number for searching the best price. I download the parts manual and keep them on my computer for ready reference.

Also, if the item isn't in stock it may take a while. Been waiting on some cups since 6/26.
