Has anyone tried a Tig-pen?

$30 bucks plus shipping...toy or tool? I'm thinking easier to manipulate with a glove on, but no feel to it with a glove on, a trade off.

seems it works alright by their measure.

if it wern't $30, I'd snag one for using up the filler nubs, but I don't burn enough filler in a year to justify it.

I am tempted to see how well those actually work. If someone does buy one, would you post what you think of them.. Maybe sometime down the road if no one does buy one I will just to see how well they work. I am still working on getting down the feeding by hand.. I like to dip till my hand is almost in the arc and then move it way back and go again so its not really feeding.... I did feed ok when laying the rod in the puddle.

Ducks face, I've seen them used and tested one myself. I want to say there is a video floating out there of one in use, like jody or someone. But checking his site quickly I did not see it. Its not this exact one, but it had a large wheel that was used to feed the wire.I've never seen this particular one before. However, a thin tig glove should provide the tactility needed to slide the wire through. Its a good tool if you have a need for it. But its no substitute as they are a little bulky.

Yes, I have one and yes I have tried it, good idea but it could be better, first aligning the wheel to your finger is a PITA, the entire thing could be improved by making it similar to a wire stripper in reverse , where you squeeze a handle and the wire/rod is fed out each time you squeeze the handle. It's a toy for boys.

Don't be dissapointed if you don't have one, cause you aren't missing much. Cool idea, works some what, but could be better designed so you don't need the soft gloves etc. IMO, It should have a squeeze handle to feed the rod to be of any real use.

Thanks for the views of opinions. I will just keep practicing at hand feeding and wont waste my time with one of these. I didn't think highly that there would be a benefit to getting one.
