I just upgraded from my SC 50P Plasma cutter to a Power Ultra 205P. Oleg tells me that Pulse (P) has been added to which I responded "SWEET". Mine is supposed to be here Tuesday. I will report back as I learn to use it.

one day soon I hope to purchase an EX 250 and semi- retire my Pu205 to plasma only duties. I'm sure it will handle the job just fine. A standalone Plasma cutter would be great, but I already have the PU205 and it cuts anything I need it to. On top of that I am finding the portability and dual voltage capability of the 205 to be extremely useful. For example, If you do happen to take the little welder to a worksite to do some stick welding, as I will be next week, you have a cutter and really nice tig welder there too.
Here is a demonstration cut I made with the PU205 http://www.everlastgenerators.com/fo...0&d=1276752830
Kind of amazing really, you can do all sorts of fairly heavy duty welding/cutting and still pack the thing around easily with the shoulder strap.

i have a pu205 and love the plasma. thought i was having an issue with it because it wasn't cutting very good and the tig was exploding my tunstens. i put a dessicant dryer on it and all the cutting problems were solved, i don't have an argon bottle to see if the dry airlines fixed the tig problem but i have a sneaky suspicion that'll be fixed as well. my cuts aren't anywhere near as pretty as worntorn's but it gets the job done just fine
shawn,
Its either going to be a problem with the wrong shielding gas or wrong polarity.
i figured having water in the air line might do the same thing. i do have a bottle of 75/25 i use for my mig. last i read i had to have straight argon for mild steel on the tig process is there anything i can use the 75/25 on to see if the problem is still there? i have 2% thoriated for tungsten
NO. nothing. You can NOT use the CO2 mix with tig
that's what i thought. guess i just need to save up for another argon bottle
Renting/leasing is usually better and less hassle.
down here it's a $50 difference so might as well just buy the bottle. $200 deposite + $10 monthly rental fee + $22 refill or $280 to buy a full 125 bottle
Where's down here? You are getting ripped. Simple credit check and a cylinder should be NO more than 70.00/year, no fee up front for MAX size cylinder.
Airgas Southwest is only $49 a year for lease of a size 200 and charged less than 14 dollars for my first fillup of 100% Argon.

i called all the welding supplies and they all gave me the same price...guess it doesn't help that my credit is shot
Yes, it does. Ken, I think you will be happier with separate units. Most people are. Never had one complain yet that they bought separate and should have bought together. I have had it the other way around though.
