Cutmaster 52 or Power Plasma 60.

I have been following the Everlast line of equipment for the last year or so and I must say I am impressed. I have talked to a few people that have used and own some Everlast equipment and they have nothing but good things to say. I personally have not got my hands on anything to try for myself but I think I am convinced I want to spend my hard earned money with Everlast.

I need to replace a Cutmaster 52 that was damaged in an accident. I had only one issue with the machine and the customer service I received was not as good as I expected for having paid that kind of money for the machine. My question is how do you guys think the Power Plasma 60 will compare to the Cutmaster? Going by the specs it looks like the Power Plasma will perform a little better but I dont know. I have no doubt that if I ever need service I will get great service with Everlast. It doesnt take long to figure that out reading the forums here. So what do you think? Will it hang with the Cutmaster? How do I go about getting the best pricing on one also? Thanks guys and thanks to everyone at Everlast. You seem to have a great product with even better customer service and that is what I am looking for!

I think you would be more than happy with the PP 60 I do not own a PP60 but I do own a PP 50. I use mine every day and have yet to have any problems. And the 50n replaced a Powermax45 that I was not happy with at all.

I own both a PP50 and a PP80 as far as I'm concerned, I bought right , got the best bang for my buck and am very happy with them.

I've used the PP50, 60 and 70 for years. The PP70 was a bit heavy, so I picked up a 50. The 50 was fantastic, so sold the 70. Someone had to have the PP50, so I went to the PP60. It is a happy medium and what I use now. No regrets. Not to heavy and a little extra power. But they are all great units. The size/weight of the PP50 was a major plus though.

Thank you for all the great info guys. The weight of the machine is a big factor as well. I do a lot of mobile work and it will be carried a lot.

I have a Cutmaster 38, and a PP80, cutmaster is a fine machine but a lot heavier than the PowerPlasma. My cutmaster has the SL60 torch, it’s a blowback type, I like the torch that comes with the Everlast better. Hard to compare side by side because of the power difference, but both are fine machines in my opinion. If you compare $, it’s not hard to decide.

Well I got the new machine this afternoon and got everything fired up and working. I messed around on some 1/4" stuff and I must say I am impressed. It seems to cut as good if not a little better than the old Cutmaster did. The only issue I had after unpacking and inspecting was the little water trap that comes with it leaks at the inlet side around the threads no matter what you do. I tried pipe dope and thread tape and nothing will make it quit. I assume its cracked? I will try to locate a comparable replacement I guess. I am glad I got the A81 torch. Its more like what I am used to using.

I love the machine so far. I hope it lasts as long as I need it to. Quality of the machine and customer service are top notch. Mark was great to talk to and deal with. Thanks Everlast.

That fitting may reguire an O ring , however, apply some JB weld to the threads, it will stop the leak but you will never be able to take it apart.

The fitting that came with it looked like an o-ring boss and I tried it both ways with no luck. I may just do the JB weld thing and forget about it. Thanks for the idea.

Spray PAM on the female, jbweld goes on the male. Tighten and wait a day. Its now removable.

I messed around with it this afternoon and ended up taking a regular old pipe thread nipple, coating it with pipe dope and screwing it in. No leaks at all now. I used it to cut out some actual parts today and I love the machine more and more every time I use it. Thanks Everlast for the nice product and customer service.

Just an update. I have used the machine a lot since I got it and at this point I love it! I like it better than I did my Cutmaster. I have done some odd cutting with it and it works so good. Thanks guys for providing these machines and a great cost and with great customer support.

I have a dryer at the compressor, then I use an air dryer from a over the road truck about 30 feet from the compressor and then I use another 30 feet of air line from the truck dryer for my working hose. I have NEVER had moisture in my air EVER! I use the working air hose to supply the dryer and pop it off a couple times throughout the day but I never get any moisture from it. It also has a spin on replacement filter that costs about $30. It has worked this long so I am sticking with that.

With plasma cutting the key is dry air and a steady hand (and the right amps). Some people have small compressors and that's a problem. It doesn't matter if our cutter or a competitors.

Inline filters help a lot and aren't cheap but I use them. It's best to use them at the back of the cutter, not at the compressor. Some people are cooling the charge pipe/line to the tank with good results. A little more work, but again good dry air from a small compressor.

I like what starvingartist said about 60PSI, lots of post flow and good dry air.

60PSI will cover up to 1". The dry air will assure a nice cut if you move at a good speed and "it will save on your consumables". Post flow will cool the torch down. Maybe our manual doesn't say it that way, but it is in the manual. Use that combo and you will be very happy with your cuts.
