Weld them together end to end and keep practicing.
When a filler rod stub is getting short, I sometimes like to allow the puddle to solidify with the stub "stuck" in the puddle. Then I grab a new filler rod, and weld it onto the end of the stub. Once the fused rods have solidified and cooled enough, I'll resume welding with the "combined length" filler rod.
You could find two of near equal length, bend them in half and reweld them at the proper angle producing a CALTROP ( nasty little thing that has one pointy end up no matter how you throw it down) used to stop/delay charges by men on horses or on foot.
It's been awhile since I faced a charge by men on horse back, but who knows, having a sack full of caltrops hanging in the garage could come in handy.
On the other hand your desire to make use of things we usually throw out has inspired me, from now on I'm saving my Corona beer bottle caps, the idea is to staple them upside down to a piece of 3/4 inch plywood and make a mud scraper for dirty boots.
Sounds a lot better when some one phones me and asks what I'm doing, instead of saying I'm sucking on a beer, I'm working on my foot scraper.
With O/A I have done this many times (weld the stubs together that is). Never have for TIG, they are so short when I'm done. Might give it a try.
I will grab the stub with needle nose vise grips and go until there is about 1/2 an inch left. its better than destroying my gloves by trying to milk out every last bit.
