I bought a nice new couch but I don't trust the dog alone in the house with it, so I made this gate after he destroyed the previous plastic gate.
The gate is made with 1-1/2" square tubing and 1/2" HRS.
Here is a picture of my couch eating dog I built the gate for and my beautiful wife.
Nice job, but I'll bet he can clear that gate in a single bound, ? {S}
Amazing, no court apperance, trial and the poor poochie gets a jail gate, I say we have a parole hearing and he gets the run of the house with one of those braclets, the dog looks innocent to me.
Parole him with a shock collar and an invisible fence around the couch.:O

Nice job! Are those regular interior door hinges? We use a product called bitter apple to train our dogs where NOT to put their mouth. *MOST* dogs get the message the first time or two, but we have seen hardcases that could care less. The stuff tastes awefull, even for a creature that will gladly lick its own butt...
we used to use tabasco sauce for training our dogs what not to eat till we got a dog that liked the taste. the wood furniture was never the same

The gate looks well made. One quick question ...how does the gate lock?

Just wondering how heavy is your gate?Quote:

I had a client with the same problem :-) here is the gate I built for them.
I trieds this same idea with my wife's yorkie a while back. I had some extra spicy KFC chicken and he was begging for food, which annoys me to all end. I figured if I gave him something that should taste awful to him and be physically uncomfortable at the same time he would quit begging for food. I counldn't have been MORE wrong, he devoured the piece I gave him and was even more persistent with his begging. Apparently he likes spicy things.
Nice job on the gate by the way.
I like Darryl's gate much better, but thats the difference between a professional iron worker (him) and a weekend warrior (me). Mine only took 2 beers to make though.
Is that solid or tubing? How about finish, paint ir powder coat?
It's solid hrs, and I havent painted it yet, but I was thinking about a crackle powder coat.
well you have made a mockery of our justice system, and a very nice looking gate!
I think the dog looks innocent, he was probably set up by some cat. You know all those cats are pure evil!
