Setting the HF spark gap EVERLAST Cut40-60D

Locating and checking the HF (high frequency) spark gap. These photos and instructions will assist checking if your HF gap is too large giving you a small or no plasma arc.

If you attempt to adjust this, it is at "your" own risk, there are stored voltages in the units capacitors even when off and unplugged. Also, I have seen this gap from .025 to .040 on units that worked fine.

Step one: Unplug the unit and remove the 10 stainless steel screws with a Philips screwdriver (5 per side) and lift the cover off with the handle.
Step two: Wrap the .030 blade on the feeler gauge with 2 layers of tape (insulating the metal), to prevent the gap from short with the metal blade.
Step three: Locate the HF gap. Check and adjust with the feeler gauge, make sure the points never touch or short with metal. The tape is thin.
Step four: Put the unit back together and test it.

My brand new CUT 50 will not strike an arc?
Everything else seems fine.

What do you suggest?
