Ok So im gonna start building my welding car with my stick welder. can anyone tell me the dimension I should make the top tray for my 250ex to sit on and the aprox weight and diameter of a 150cf bottle and a 220?. I am paralyzed and in a wheelchair So there will be no lifting for me and I have to make sure my Dad can get the bottle out of the truck . Maybe a sling and an engine hoist LOL

On the tank. I would make a 10" base plate, then 150-330 you are covered. 9" will probably be fine.
EDIT: 150s are 7.5", also 330 tanks weigh over 135 lbs and are 9" dia. I recommend bigger bottles to save on refills. 150 is easy to move around, bigger ones, your Dad will need to roll and lean them here and there. But worth it in the long run.
My cart has a hole in it to hold the bottle (the biggest one ) I don't lift the bottle over the cart to put it in, I lay the cart on it's side, shove it (bottle) in and lift the bottle and cart up right, set my welder and cooler back in and I'm done, the bigger the bottle the fewer times you have to do it.
How long is the cord that comes on the 250ex?
Cord is 8 feet long. Torch lead is 12 feet.
Not a bad idea on a dedicated cart. My main cart has 3 units on it. Would be more work to try that for me and my main MIG (250P) has a tray built on it for the big bottle, so I still have to lift it as well. Maybe I need to make a bottle dolly? Normally, we just roll them on edge.Quote:

Well Im going a bit slow on the cart got all of my material 1" sq .083 wall ( free ) and some .125 sheet that I will cut to size for the 3 shelves. I may omit the center shelve and make a drawr under the welder to store gloves consumables ect. I am still working on the cad drawing and should be starting soon. sorry for the slow update :P
Upload plans and pictures if you can. I have 3 shelved on my cart. Hook only on one side to it will fit through a 36" doorway. No drawer, so the cart is a mess with consumables all around the edges of the shelves, thing want to roll under the units too.Quote:
