Welding means joining two or pieces of metal to make them act as a single piece. There are different kinds and ways to make a weld. Welding can be done indoors or outdoors, underwater and in outer space.
There are different processes of welding, namely, Arc welding, Gas welding, Resistance Welding and Energy Beam welding.
Arc welding can be done with the help of electric current and doesn’t require expensive equipment.
Gas welding is mostly used for repairing pipes and tubes. Gas welding is also used in jewelry industry or welding plastics and other materials that cannot stand higher temperatures.
Resistance welding requires additional sheets of metal to encase the pieces to be welded together. This welding process requires costly equipment and is environmental friendly of all methods.
Energy beam welding is fast and accurate. Since it requires costly equipment, it is prohibitive for many industries.
Welding is used in various industries like bulldozers, cranes, material handling equipment, paper making and printing equipment, textiles and office machinery. Welding is also used in metal industry like steel mills, iron and steel foundries, smelting and refining plants. Welding work is done for various industries. Welding is mostly used in certain industries like automotive manufacturing plant.
