The purpose of welding is to join or bond metal parts permanently. Welding is performed in many fields for varied applications. The process involves heating of metal pieces and fusing them permanently. Welding machines are of following types;
Arc Welding Machine
Arc welders apply intense heat to melt metal and join them together. Further sown arc welding machine can be of various types such as, carbon, gas metal, gas tungsten, shielded metal, flux cored, orbital / tube, plasma, stud an submerged arc.
Fusion Welding Machines
This process utilizes a filler material to complete the weld. Their types are electron beam, hot plate, plastic, laser, oxyfuel gas, thermite/exothermic, inertia and electro slag welding machine.
Plasma Cutting Machine
This process involves the usage of high speed jet of ionized gas which aid in welding.
Resistance Welding Machine
Their types are spot, inverter, projection, seam, flash, upset, percussion and high frequency resistance welder.
Solid State Welding Machines
There are no fillers used in this process. Their types are cold, diffusion, explosion, forge, hot pressure, roll, ultrasonic, and friction welding
machine.
Other Welding Machines
Machines that are used in other welding processes are induction and thyristorised welding machine.
