Advantages of Gas Welding

August 10th, 2009

Since nineteenth century, gas welding is used in jewelry industry. At that time, both oxygen and hydrogen was used together in the process because they produced very intense and hot flame. But it gained importance due to discovery of acetylene. Acetylene is a gas that is formed with the combination of water and calcium carbide. This compound can provide flames with a temperature of up to 4000 degree Fahrenheit.

Some important features of gas welding include lower costs, mobility of equipment transportation and versatility. Any metal can be welded, cut or heated using gas welding device on oxygen and acetylene. While gas welding, make sure that cylinders are kept in a vertical position and valve caps must be in place when cylinders are not in use.
