Equipments of welding:

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Most people know the definition of welding by now. At least they should know welding is a term used in manufacturing industries which manufactures heavy and other steel related objects which we are most likely to use on a day to day basis. Nonetheless, welding is a process where two or more metal pieces are joined together with the help of a molten solution. The molten solution on cooling down forms a strong bond between the work pieces. This whole process depends heavily upon electricity and high heat transfer to be a successful one.

As mentioned earlier it is impossible to perform the art of welding without electricity and high heat energy transfer. As such there are certain equipments used in the welding which allows us to perform the necessary. They have actually revolutionized the manufacturing industries and improved the quality of welds beyond measures. Welding equipments as such involve a welding gun, a generator, spool with a nozzle, gas and the work pieces. Gas is necessary for running the generator which gives the necessary electricity and the welding gun along with spool and nozzle allows you to focus the heat energy upon the work pieces. Apart from these there are also welding safety equipments such as welding goggles, shield or mask, welding apparels and gloves etc.

Pick up the best welding equipments according to your business need:

Monday, December 13th, 2010

In order to avoid any mistake of getting the wrong tools, there are a number of selection principles that need to be understood such as:

* What is the level of the welding process that takes place on daily basis?

* How much space is available with you?

* Is the space ventilated?

* Do you manage just particular welds or various kind of activity?

If you know the answer for all these questions then you are really going to get benefit while selecting welding tools. Never ever ignore the importance of the safety welding equipments which is the upshot condition for each and every welding activity.

There are various significant welding tools to ensure the safety of the welders. Some of them are highly important such as welding helmets, masks, goggles and hood with auto-darkening lance (distinctive feature). Usually, head gear or helmet might differ from one case to another.

If your welding activity includes wide rang of services, then try to buy those welding equipments that are adjustable for various different combination. Even though these tools are more expensive compared to the normal ones they are worth the expense for an efficient and easy welding.

A note on portable welders:

Friday, November 19th, 2010

When choosing a portable welder, buy a welder that can do both shielding gas and flux core wire welding. Go in for a model that has highest amperage and is available in your budget. Modern portable welders are light and compact and can be taken out in the field for repairs. A portable welder can weld any type of material with the help of welding.

Portable welders work on either 115 volt or 230 volt power supplies. When choosing a portable welder, find out what type of repairs it can be used for. MIG welders can repair mild steel and sheet steel, while tungsten inert gas can repair aluminum and chromium molybdenum steel. Portable welders come with TIG capabilities.

Portable welders are easy to operate and most of the welders can do quality welding work as it requires minimum instruction and supervision. This is a valuable and affordable option.

Welding Techniques defers according to welders:

Monday, June 7th, 2010

There are a number of universal welding techniques available, but most of the welding techniques depend on the method of welding which is being preferred by welder.

Operating circumstances of the welding is the main and prime concern because with the help of operating circumstances the factors concerning to the welding current, electrical energy, the velocity of arc travel and the wire electrode expansion are decided.

All the four things that mentioned above are measured essential change in every welding procedure because they will be able to differ over a long time. In order to make a replica of the similar performance, the standards should be verified at various types of welding activity.

In the welding process, welding current is the amount of power that is being utilized. For the welding current, a power source meter or a detach ammeter can be utilized. Welding technique and the quality of welding are affected directly via the situation of torch.

Safety Measures for Arc Welding

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Arc welders are used to make and repair plain, coated or treated metal items. Always wear dark colored coveralls with long sleeves and pant legs so that you can protect your body from burns due to ultraviolet light, molten metal and sparks. The coveralls should be fire retardant, cuffless and pocket less with no holes, tears or worn sports. Leather gauntlet gloves and safety boots will protect your hands and feet. Googles and welding helmets can protect your eyes from flying sparks, chipped slag and UV light. Welding helmets should be free from cracks, gaps and openings. Arc welders can reach temperatures greater than 10,000 degrees F, posing a fire and explosion hazard. Always keep a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and first aid kit in the room.

When you weld steel or other conductive materials always use an insulating mat to avoid electric shock from arc welding. Keep welding cables clean and intact and position them so that they do not get sparks or hot metal on them. Use arc welders in well-ventilated areas.Welding metals may be hazardous or lead to an oxygen deficient atmosphere and are best handled in a ventilation hood exhausted to the outside.
