When welders place their torch to the source material or material being worked on, they need to use a filler metal that will melt, to create the weld. This filler metal or weld wire has more than one use, it will also protect the welded material from contaminates such as, air. This weld wire is held in one hand while they hold the torch with the other, bringing heat to the source material.
