Plastic welders for easy DIY welding

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

It is quite fun and easy to weld plastics. The process of plastic welding includes melting the plastics together like Polyethylene, Polyproplyene, PVC, ABS. using flame is not a good idea as it is too hot and only burns the plastics. The plastic welders specifically designed for the purpose would have a heating element in the handle that heat the air to approx. 550 F. this would help in melting and welding the plastics together without burning the materials. The plastic weld would be sometimes stronger than the original plastic itself. But you must remember to use a welding rod that is same type of the material that you are planning to weld.

The plastic welder would have everything needed for fast and economical welding of plastics. You would be able to easily weld any forms of plastics. It has been expected that in the coming years, most of the components used in daily and mechanical use would be finely constructed from plastics. Hence plastic welder becomes necessary welding equipment. The plastic welder comes with round tip, tacking tip and high speed welding tip. Usually a 500 watt heating element is recommended for all type of welding since it would be hot enough for fast welding.
