If you are a welder or someone who wants to be, there are safety precautions you must adhere to each time you weld. You must make sure that you wear the right clothing. It is best to check your equipment before use. You must inspect your safety equipment and your work environment.
You must watch out for any safety hap-hazards that may occur while you are metal cutting.
Accidents happen to even the best of us, so to think “it wont happen to me’ is ludicrous. It is very silly to think that because you are a longtime veteran that you have it all sewed up and can handle anything that comes your way. It is highly naive as a novice welder to think because you have been lucky so far, “what can happen to you now?”
Incidents can happen to anyone, on any job. Being hurt on the job is something that happens nearly everyday on the planet. So, it might be best to think, “I’ll be ready when something happens” or “I will be safe when the next accident happens at work”. This type of thinking shows that you have a proactive way of thinking and will help you to be a safety-awareness type of worker. This type of thinking may save you much, when it comes to getting hurt.
Now that we know that being safe isn’t an option, let’s talk about how to be safe. Let’s discuss being careful when you are metal cutting. It is most important to protect your eyes, skin and work area from debris.
When you are metal cutting, be sure that you wear your goggles along with a face shield. They are used to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays and sparks. The UV rays can cause damage to the eyes, either temporarily or permanently. The face shield will protect you from dust or any sparks from the procedure. If you eyes come in contact with any harmful chemicals, you should go directly to an eye wash station.
To save your ears from harm, you should wear earplugs. They must be worn during the metal cutting process to protect your inner ears from injuries. Wearing your earplugs may seem like something that isn’t important, when hearing loss is nothing but.
There are chemicals that you will use that are dangerous to your body. There are dangers, in that they can splash on your eyes or skin. These chemicals shouldn’t be allowed to stay on your body for any length of time, you should go right away to your nearest eye wash or hand wash station and clean the area; washing the exposed area of your body very thoroughly and for at least one minute, to defend yourself from any harm.
Thus, you can be safe when you are metal cutting. But only if you are smart enough to practice the safety measures put in place. They will arm you with all that you need to be safe in the workplace. Proving that is the worker that righteously follows the safety rules that are the best in all that they do, including metal cutting.
