Plasma cutting machines are of different types. Once the best choice has been made, the followings points should be remembered to make the best use of your cutter.
- Set up the cutter as mentioned in the instruction booklet.
- Wear the safety gears as mentioned in the manual. Safety gears protect your eyes, hands and face.
- Do not try to pierce the work piece at a 90 degree angle. Instead a 60 degree horizontal and 30 degree vertical approach to the metal is advisable.
- Avoid touching the nozzle to the metal piece when applying current levels that are 45 amps or more. This will improve the life of the nozzle.
- Move the cutter at the right speed to create that high quality cut.
- Maintain a distance of 3/16″ to 1/8″ from work to the nozzle.
- Try to use the pilot arc mode for a short span of time.
- Use the cutter with high power electricity as it works at its best then.
