Diesel Generator Lasts Longer Than Gas Generators

September 4th, 2009

Diesel generators require less maintenance. Diesel is expensive but reduced down time and longer life will make up for it. Diesel engines require twice the amount of compression ratio of gasoline engines. It is essential to use correct diesel fuel because it not only runs the engine, but also lubricates and cools the fuel pump, injectors and spray tip. Leaking injectors can cause rough engine operation, destructive unbalanced cylinder temperatures and incomplete combustion. Since diesel engines breathe more air per hour than gasoline engines, air leaks through cracks, loose connections or holes in flexible hoses can cause serious and expensive engine damage.

Diesel generators do not have spark plugs to replace or carburetors. Diesel generators outlast gas generators ten-to-one. Diesel engine can run for 20,000 hours before going for servicing or routine maintenance. If diesel generators work for four hours in a day, then 20,000 hours also works out to nearly 14 years.
