Thread: Learning a new skill

  1. Default Learning a new skill

    Howdy folks,

I'm pretty excited about being part of this community, as I also am about my new-found connection to welding. I'm a trades-person by nature. My material of choice has always been wood. I used to build and repair wooden boats.

As part of the curriculum for an aviation maintenance technician course that I am currently attending, I've recently - last year - began to learn welding. Having been the only student to get through all the oxy-acetylene projects I found myself and a syncrowave 250 becoming good friends. Found that I have a bit of a knack, if there is such a thing and I absolutely love it. My direction will be aviation and marine applications the way I'm looking at it for now.

With that in mind I decided that I needed to continue with my welding practice away from school - especially aluminum and 4130 tubing, so was able to make the leap and justify the recent purchase of a PP256.

Can't wait for it to arrive. Andy
