I'm sorry but I don't have an exact answer, however after some quick research it seems like the chemical composition of casings vary to suit its environment. Does anyone else want pitch in on this???
At my school we had oxy/prop bevelers, 5 for plate, and 4 for pipe. Unfortunately they rarley ever let us use the the pipe beveler saying that they might not have those out in the field. Instead...
Same guess that I had. Do you find those often in scrapyards in Texas??
For that I'm pretty sure there is a use for high quality steel depending on what is flowing through. Some may need the ability to resist chemical attack etc would be my guess.
I'm sure higher...
Is it Casing???
You will probably have to adjust your heat and speed to compensate for the thickness, plus your going to have ALOT of grinding to do!!
Hmm, that looks way thicker than schedule 40. May I ask where you got it from??? It might be a component of something which would explain the toughness.
I really wished that they threw in a nice welder upon completion!!
6G 45 degree angle?? I sure did!! I did 4" stainless schedule 10 , 4" carbon schedule 40, and 6" carbon schedule 40 and passed !! (6G was the hardest to pass!!) I also tried 3" schedule 180 pipe...

Once again that Mig 200 seems so versatile!! May I ask what welding parameters you used/ thickness of steel??
Oh yes I really want to do lost foam casting once I finally build my foundry. Vacuum casting sounds really interesting as I have rarely heard of it.
Simple yet very neat nice work!!
May I ask if you use other methods for casting??
Have you used the pulse on anything yet??
Lost wax casting right??
Flap discs work great for me. Or if I am in a pinch a stiff wire wheel will work.
Nice welds!! That mig200 sure seems like a handy welder!!
Neat, may I ask how it was formed??
I would really love to see a demonstration video of those inverter units! (They seem very interesting)
