Hi everyone, I'm Jason and I've been mig welding on and off as a hobby for the past 8 years. Nothing too intense just small projects in my home garage. I'm familiar with 2D/3D solid models from work as a designer for jet engine/propulsion structures. Currently my garage at home is a mess, I'm in the process of reorganizing everything and obtaining all the equip necessary to start my next project.

I quickly drew it up a while back, it needs a few more tweaks before its done. After that its just a matter of purchasing all the material to start fabricating. :D

Alex was kind enough to talk with me on new year's eve about the differences between the powerultra 205 and powermaster 205. After talking about what would be a best fit for me I ended up ordering the powermaster 205 on Monday, Thanks Alex! It should be delivered tomorrow, it would of been delivered today but UPS had a problem/scheduling issue, but I can't complain about 3 day shipping. It gives me time to get everything setup for its arrival, I can't wait!

This will be my first time TIG welding so I hope everything will go well, I think I will test out the plasma cutter first then move on to TIG welding once I pick up an argon tank and some filler rods. I got a lot of small projects that I've been waiting to get started. I'll update and post pictures when it arrives.

Nice drawing. I was hoping I could use google sketchup to get results like that, but my brain and google have not worked together.

What program are you using? Sure the cost is up there.

Thanks, I used Catia V5 to draw that up. I've used google sketchup and its not bad, I use it mainly as a way to quickly sketch up some ideas I have in 2D.

So unfortunately, UPS has screwed up again. :mad: I checked the tracking on the package and it was out for delivery this morning but some reason they screwed up and the package was left at their facility. I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow for delivery, keeping my fingers crossed.

Lately I've been working on my small projects outside, so I can deal with the cold just not the rain but I got lucky and got a nice rain-free weekend this time. I finally got my PM205 Friday afternoon, the UPS guy just dropped it off on the porch and it was raining. I was freaking out about it getting wet and someone swiping it off the porch, so I quickly got off work and raced home. I was so happy to see it still there sitting on my porch, the box was a little damp but no damage. I opened it as fast as I can, boy was that thing heavy. For some reason I thought that it came with a tungsten rod for tig, but I guess I'll have to run out and pick one up, what is the recommended type and thickness (thiorated (red) rod, 1.6mm?)

I got caught up with so many other things lately, all that I got to do with it was take it out of the box. I got my wiring done in the garage and should be able to test it out, just need to make sure I get the plug from the unit wired up correctly, the wire colors are screwing me up. I think the green should be neutral wire and the black and white wires are the two hot wires. I posted a question about that on the multi-unit forum page to get some feedback from others. I want to make sure I don't short something out by flipping the wires.

Green is ground (not neutral), black and white are hot wires. There is no neutral connection.

Thanks for the help, I sorted everything out. The ground (green) wire from the unit connects to the neutral (white) wire in the NEMA L10-50R socket in the wall which is essentially the return wire to the transformer and is the ground connection at the main breaker.
