The 230 EX is a Australian welder so i assume your from that neck of the woods.
I don't get to use the 230Ex that often as i only ever get the opportunity to try it out if it is in production while i am visiting our Manufacturer.
The 230 has all the same or practically all the same features as the 250 Ex and the only real difference is the fact that it is more compatible with the average electrical power output that is typical for you. If you go to youtube ( or there are links to the videos on our Forum )you can see a Series of Videos that have been produced on weldingtipsandtricks

A good starting point for aluminum.
Turn off the pulse, turn on AC, set for TIG, set the AC frequency to the 2 o'clock position and the balance to the 10 o'clock position. AMPs should be about 1.25 amps per .001 thickness.
That should get you started.
