I am still learning, but this mig makes it much easier to lay a smooth bead compared to my HH175.

Looks good just a little splatter in a couple places. What was the wall thickness and which machine did you use.

Original settings Volt/Feed 4/30
At 4, it hummed along, but the penetration was a little light At 4, there was zero splatter.
I turned up the feed to 36, but again, the penetration was a little thin.
I tried 5/36, but the weld was too hot and too much build up.
I laid these at 5/32 pushing.
What do you think?

you need to watch your tie in at the toes of you welds a couple of them had no tie in try pulling and not pushing

Yeah, the toes at #4 volt tap were definitely not tied in, so I tried the #5 volt tap. I am still adjusting to the gun (larger and different than the gun on my HH175) and the whole welding process feels different with this machine. Probably different slope or inductance values. It is a "good" difference as oppose to a "bad" different feel.

Not bad for your first start with new equipment. I would be interested in seeing your welds after you have worked with you mig for a couple months. New equipment always takes some time to adjust to.

For just starting out with new equipment it's not bad looking. Just wait until you've had some time on it, then take pictures. You'll see a difference. Of course that is part of the fun.... always learning and always improving over the last weld. Keep welding on.
