Tig Welding Consumables: |
Consumables and tungsten electrodes are essential parts of the welding process.
EVERLAST offers tungsten electrodes in a pack of 10, suitable for all TIG welding projects. There are 2, 4 and 6mm tungsten electrodes and in each pack; you can find a packet of 10 electrodes.
The EVERLAST TIG collet welder body is also available in the dimensions of 1.6mm, 2.4mm and 3.2mm. Bore, back cap and heat shield are the other torch consumables available from EVERLAST.
Other consumables include backcaps, collets and collet bodies, gas lenses and nozzles.[read more...]

Back Caps:
Back caps apply pressure to the back end of the collet to force it against the collet body. This pressure holds the tungsten in place and seals the torch head from the atmosphere. Back caps simply twist into the back of the torch to help create a "vise" that prevents the tungsten from slipping.
Collets and Collet Bodies:
Collets directly hold the tungsten in place when you tighten the back cap and create the electrical contact necessary for good current transfer. When choosing collets and collet bodies, you have to consider two things:
1. Standard grade copper collets and collet bodies are less expensive, but they also tend to be less durable. Less expensive collet and collet bodies are also prone to failure under high temperature applications.
2. You have to decide between a single and two piece system. Typically, manufacturers sell collets and collet bodies separately to match a specific tungsten size.
Gas lenses:
Gas lenses replace the collet body to increase shielding gas coverage and reduce turbulence. Less expensive gas lenses typically have fewer screens and coarser mesh configurations, which tend to be less durable and can negatively affect gas flow.
Nozzles:
Nozzles provide a given amount of shielding gas coverage to the weld pool, according to their size. The most cost effective nozzles are 90 to 95 percent alumina oxide nozzles, which work adequately for lower amperage applications. [Collapse...]
